We act as counsel and arbitrator in national and international arbitration proceedings and have particular expertise in German and Swiss arbitration law. We have gained a wealth of experience in over 300 arbitration proceedings with amounts in dispute sometimes in the hundreds of millions. We understand both the perspective of the parties (and their counsel) and the perspective of the decision-makers.

We are familiar with the decision-making processes in arbitration and court proceedings. Knowledge of the relevant substantive and procedural law is an important and self-evident basis for the client’s success in a contentious proceeding, but it is by far not sufficient.

Developing the client’s strategy and litgation tactics at the beginning of a dispute and pursuing them consistently throughout the case is the core of our efforts in close cooperation with our clients.

We have extensive expertise in sports (business) law and advise associations, clubs, athletes and sponsors on all legal matters. From drafting and reviewing contracts to representation in arbitration, court and disciplinary proceedings.

Industry-specific aspects of sport and sports business shape the application of relevant areas of law such as contract and employment law. Successful advice and representation is not possible without knowledge of the specifics of the sports industry. Our industry knowledge is particularly pronounced in football and basketball. In addition to associations, clubs and athletes, we also advise financial institutions on sports financing transactions, which cannot be carried out securely without a sound knowledge of association law (e.g. FIFA in the area of football).

Our advice on commercial and corporate law issues is also focused on the sports industry. In the course of the corona pandemic, we have advised on performance disruptions and contract adjustments (e.g. in the event of event cancellations, spectator exclusions, marketing difficulties) and were involved in relevant legal proceedings in arbitration and before state courts. We also advise a major financial institution on its sports financing transactions and regularly handle the entire contract drafting process.

Beyond our particular sports business experience, we act in cases involving post-M&A disputes, construction and infrastructure disputes, (international) supply disputes, and IP disputes.
